Yep! They're Lesbians.
Steve and Charlie nearly did not happen. He was convinced I was a lesbian.
Steve's neighbor, Sandy, was my dance instructor and introduced us. Steve only saw me when Sandy and I were together. Sandy had to move back to the East coast to care for her mother so I invited her to stay with me for a couple of months to help her save the money. Steve and his friend, Ted, helped Sandy move. They were already wondering about me and Sandy and our relationship.
The week after the move, I called Steve and offered him and Ted two tickets to the Dodgers as a 'thank you' for their help. He said he would like to go but he would rather go with me. Everyone from my office at Sparrow Records was attending the game. As we were walking down the steps to join them, I commented, "This will be a first. No one from Sparrow has ever seen me with a man before." (I always kept my business and personal lives separate). Well, then he was sure Sandy and I were lesbians.
Still, the following weekend we went to the beach. Because I was celibate, I really did not want to mislead him or have to deal with any unrealistic expectations on his part. So I told him, "I really have a good time with you, but I need to make it clear that this will never be a sexual relationship."
Bingo! When he called Ted after the date they both agreed we were undoubtedly lesbians. But he liked talking to me so we kept dating. The wedding 10 months later pretty much settled the discussion.
